Quiet and unassuming, Jose is not one to brag about his enormous talent and extensive preparation.  Some people excel at reading music, but precious few have the ability to create it.

On April 16 & 17, 2010 the San Antonio Symphony premiered four musical pieces written by Jose Irizarry during their 2010 Fiesta Pops Concerts at the Majestic Theatre.  “It is really great to finally write for my local orchestra, where I have performed so many times,” said Jose, who has a Master's Degree in violin performance, and often plays with the San Antonio Symphony, “and it has been a great honor to work with Juan Ortiz and his legendary Mariachi Campanas de América.”

In 2011 the San Antonio Symphony commissioned seven new orchestrations for the 2011 Fiesta Pops Concerts. The concerts featured performances by Mariachi Campanas De América, the Guadalupe Theatre Dance Company, acclaimed trio Los Tres Reyes and local country singer Rick Cavender.

In December of 2010, some of Jose’s orchestrations were featured as part of a concert produced by composer Tim Janis, in New York’s Carnegie Hall.

In 2012 The Order Of The Alamo commissioned four new orchestrations for their Coronation ceremony at the Majestic Theatre.

Jose has performed with many internationally recognized artists.  His first paying job was at the age of 15, playing on tour with Jose Feliciano.  While in New York, Jose was selected to be the concertmaster for the orchestra that would accompany salsa legend, Gilberto Santa Rosa, for his concert at Carnegie Hall.  The orchestra included top New York violinists, including today’s jazz violin sensation Regina Carter.  The concert at Carnegie Hall was recorded live and made into an album.  Jose has also performed with Luis Miguel, Johnny Mathis, Luciano Pavarotti, jazz flutist David Valentin, Rocío Durcal, Arturo Sandoval, Giovanni Hidalgo, Alicia De Larrocha, Joshua Bell, among many others.  He recently was invited to KRTU’s The Jazz Protagonists radio show to commemorate the 100th birthday of jazz violin legend Stephane Grappeli.

In 2002, he released his first solo album: Blessings, a compilation of traditional hymns with fresh new arrangements that incorporate different elements of world music, including Jazz, Afro-Latin rhythms, Irish, Gospel and Spirituals.

In 2000 Jose established Davidi Music Publishing, as an outlet for his sheet music arrangements for string instruments.  Today, some of Jose’s publications are sold internationally through the number one retailer of music and fine string instruments Shar Music.  You will find that most string ensembles across the US and locally play music arranged and published through Davidi Music.  The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra utilizes Jose’s publications for their community outreach chamber ensemble concerts in their Hispanic Roots program.

Beyond performing, Jose is involved arranging and producing music for up and coming artists.  In 2009, Jose produced the song “Por Ti” for San Antonio Latin Pop rising star, Erica Gonzaba.  In June of 2009, Jose arranged and wrote orchestrations for the first Symphony Pops concert of San Antonio star, Donald Braswell.  Braswell is an operatic tenor, who rose to stardom on the hit TV Show America’s Got Talent, where he placed as the 4th finalist.

Recently Jose dedicates his time to serve the Lord at his church as orchestra's  director and developing the middle school students praise band.

Jose graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory.  He went on to obtain a Master’s Degree from the Mannes College of Music in New York City, where he studied with  David Nadien (who was concertmaster for the NY Philharmonic under the direction of Leonard Bernstein).

Early on in his career, Jose was a member of different orchestras.  He was a member of the Puerto Rico Symphony, Festival Casals de Puerto Rico, Assistant Concertmaster for the Napa Valley Symphony, and member of the Sacramento Philharmonic.  Jose was also a member of the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, with whom he made recordings.  In San Antonio, Jose has devoted himself to the area of entertainment production, founding Allegretto Music, Zion Jazz, Groove City Band and Davidi Music Publishing.  When available, Jose enjoys performing locally with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra.
